Taurus Full Hunter’s Moon: Returning to What Truly Sustains Us
Oct 21, 2026
What truly sustains you?
Perhaps it is the feeling of your feet touching the earth. A nourishing meal. A song that softens something inside you. The presence of someone with whom you can be fully yourself.
The Taurus Full Moon on October 25–26, 2026, also known as the Hunter’s Moon, invites us to notice these sources of nourishment—and to look honestly at what we may be holding onto long after it has stopped feeding our lives.
In Northern Hemisphere seasonal tradition, the Hunter’s Moon follows the Harvest Moon, marking a time of gathering provisions and preparing for winter. For our own reflection, it offers a question: What will sustain us through the season ahead—body, heart, and soul?
With the Moon in earthy Taurus and the Sun in deep-feeling Scorpio, we enter the relationship between tending life and allowing change. We can love what we have cultivated while recognizing when something needs to evolve.
This lunation also arrives just after Venus begins a new cycle, offering a rich moment to reflect on love, belonging, self-worth, and the agreements through which we share our lives.
Finding Steadiness Within Change
Taurus reminds us that we belong to the living world. Our bodies need nourishment, rest, touch, beauty, and rhythms we can trust.
There is wisdom in simplicity: slowing down enough to taste our food, feel our breath, and notice what is growing around us. A familiar daily practice can become a place of refuge, helping us meet change with greater presence.
Scorpio invites us beneath the surface, into the feelings and truths that familiar routines sometimes conceal.
Together, these signs offer questions worth sitting with:
-
What supports my life now?
-
Where has devotion become obligation?
-
What am I afraid to feel if I loosen my grip?
-
What deserves continued tending, and what needs room to change?
We can hold these questions gently. Recognizing that something needs to evolve does not require us to know every step ahead.
Pluto and the Question of Power
Pluto in Aquarius forms a close square to both the Sun and Moon, creating a configuration astrologers call a T-square.
Symbolically, this brings power, attachment, and transformation into the foreground. It invites us to examine the places where our desire for certainty has become an effort to control.
We might notice a habit of overextending ourselves to preserve a relationship, an attachment to a role we have outgrown, or a reluctance to ask for the support we need.
Sometimes reclaiming our power begins with a boundary. Sometimes it begins with listening to someone whose experience differs from our own. Sometimes it is the quiet admission that a familiar way of living no longer fits.
The invitation is to respond with greater awareness. We can make space between an intense feeling and the action we take.
What would steadiness look like if it included flexibility?
Venus Begins a New Petal
Just before the Full Moon, Venus—the ruler of Taurus—meets the Sun while retrograde in Scorpio.
On October 23 in Hawaiʻi and the continental United States, this conjunction begins a new Venus cycle of approximately nineteen months: a new petal in the larger eight-year Venus rose.
It also marks the final Scorpio Star Point in a sequence spanning approximately a century, as this point in Venus’s larger pattern transitions toward Libra. A new beginning unfolds within a larger completion.
Venus is completing her passage as the Evening Star, disappearing into the Sun’s radiance before eventually emerging in the dawn sky as the Morning Star. We can contemplate this hidden interval as a time of renewal, when something begins before we can fully see its shape.
In Scorpio, that renewal invites us beneath the surface of what we say we want, into what we feel and need most deeply.
We may recognize where we have been giving beyond our capacity, holding tightly out of fear, or keeping an agreement that no longer reflects who we are. We may also discover a deeper capacity for trust, intimacy, and wholehearted love.
The invitation is to meet what we find with honesty and compassion. A strong feeling deserves our attention; we can give ourselves time to understand it before deciding how to respond.
Consider:
-
What truth about my heart am I ready to acknowledge?
-
What am I ready to release so that love can become more reciprocal?
-
What would it mean to receive love without abandoning myself?
A new petal opens gradually. We can allow ourselves that same tenderness.
Revisiting Our Relationships and Agreements
As Venus returns to Libra and Mercury begins its retrograde in Scorpio, we can use this period as a contemplative invitation to revisit how we communicate, share responsibility, and express our needs.
There may be a conversation worth returning to with more patience. An assumption may need to become a direct question. An agreement may benefit from clearer expectations.
We can practice saying, “This is what I need,” while remaining curious about what the other person needs.
Honesty and kindness can grow together. Giving a conversation room to unfold may help us discover possibilities that urgency would overlook.
The Sabian Symbols: Clover and Community
The Sabian Symbols offer a pair of images through which to contemplate this lunation. These symbols are reflective tools, rather than predictions.
Because the Moon is at approximately 2°46′ Taurus, we look to the symbol for Taurus 3:
“Steps up to a lawn blooming with clover.”
Imagine a simple path leading toward a place of living abundance. Each step brings us closer to nourishment: preparing a meal, tending the garden, resting when we are tired, making time for what restores us.
There is something reassuring about this image. We can participate in renewal through small, repeatable acts of care.
For the opposing Sun, Scorpio 3 offers:
“A house raising.”
Here, people come together to build something that will shelter life.
Held together, these symbols remind us that nourishment is both personal and shared. We receive from the Earth, and we participate in caring for her. We need places of refuge, and we help create them for one another.
What could flourish if we allowed ourselves to be supported?
What can we contribute to the well-being of our community without exhausting ourselves?
Grounding the Fire Horse
In our Year of the Fire Horse Visioning Guide, October carries the themes of shadow, truth, and liberation.
This Full Moon offers a grounded way to explore them: notice an old agreement, habit, or identity that is draining your life force, and choose one honest adjustment.
That might mean protecting an evening for rest, speaking a truth with kindness, or releasing a commitment that no longer reflects your values.
Let the body have a voice in what comes next.
The Earth element of Taurus gives us a useful counterbalance to the Fire Horse’s momentum. We can tend our energy through nourishing food, time outdoors, clear boundaries, and enough spaciousness to recognize what matters.
Sacred Oils for This Lunation
Over the next two weeks, we invite you to work with Amber, Rose, and Papyrus from our 7-Chakra Oil Kit.
Notice which is calling to you as your needs shift throughout the lunation. Let anointing become a quiet moment to pause, listen, and return to what truly nourishes you.
Amber · Root Chakra · Returning to the Earth
Let Amber accompany your grounding practices as you reconnect with your body and the simple rhythms that sustain you. Before meditation or time in nature, pause to feel the support beneath your feet.
What helps me feel rooted while allowing room for change?
Rose · Heart Chakra · A New Petal of Love
Rose offers a fragrant companion for reflecting on love, tenderness, and what you now value. Make room for both gratitude and grief, honoring the heart without asking it to open faster than it is ready.
What would it feel like to receive love without abandoning myself?
Papyrus · Throat Chakra · Giving Truth a Voice
Let Papyrus accompany journaling, gentle toning, or preparation for a meaningful conversation. Listen beneath familiar responses and consider how to express your needs with kindness and clarity.
What truth is ready to be spoken with care?
Use your anointing oils as directed before your practice, then take a few unhurried breaths. Allow their fragrance to become a reminder of your intention: rooted in the Earth, tender in the heart, honest in your expression.
A Simple Taurus Full Moon Practice
Set aside a few quiet minutes with a journal and a glass of drinking water. If you are using an anointing oil, apply it before you begin.
Arrive in your body.
Sit comfortably and feel the support beneath you. Take three gentle, unforced breaths. Notice the contact of your feet with the floor or ground.
Recognize what sustains you.
Write down three things that nourish your life as it is today. Be specific: a person, a place, a daily practice, or a simple pleasure.
Listen for what needs to change.
Ask: What am I continuing from habit, fear, or obligation? Allow an answer to emerge without demanding an immediate solution.
Choose one act of care.
Name one practical step you can take over the coming two weeks. Perhaps you will ask for support, make time for rest, tend a growing plant, or begin a conversation you have been avoiding.
Close with gratitude.
Hold your glass of water and offer a blessing in your own words. Drink slowly, allowing this ordinary act of nourishment to complete your practice.
If the Moon is visible, you might spend a few moments beneath her light. Let the evening be spacious enough to receive.

Making Room for Grief
A life devoted to love also needs room for sorrow.
We may be carrying personal losses, concern for those we love, or grief about suffering in the wider world. These feelings deserve compassionate attention and places where they can be witnessed.
On Sunday, October 25, we invite you to join us for the Lamentations of Aset & Nebet-Het, a ceremony devoted to making room for grief within the presence of community and sacred remembrance.
We can honor what has been lost while remaining in relationship with the beauty and care still available to us.
